I came across a terrific article on the notorious do’s and don’ts from Real Simple online magazine. What makes this article enjoyable is after each supposedly outdated fashion fact or myth there are 3 different women’s comments. There was one particular observation I appreciated responding to Buy Quality Not Quantity. This woman says she likes to see her closet as a well-mixed drink: two parts quality to one party quantity. I think it’s true when we are out shopping we are attracted to the new and different, colorful and festive, and a little daring, while having elaborate wearable expectations. And then if it is on sale, think happy hour, we belly up to the cashier and buy it without thinking about the consequences (I should not have drank that last one vs. It just hangs in the closet never being worn). I think a wardrobe is incomplete without a few ‘accessory’ foo-foo garnish pieces, but we can’t rely on those to sustain us without a wardrobe hangover. I would love to hear your comments!
